Footed yunomi, or drinking cup, holds 12 oz. liquid. Wheel thrown light stoneware with “expressionistic” style brushwork in black feldspar glaze over Avery kaolin flashing slip and anagama natural ash glaze, shino glaze on inside. Fired for 36 hours using oak and hemlock slab wood. This cup has a soft matte finish with warm orange, red, and yellow colors where the flames of the kiln have moved across its surface. The black brushwork adds both tactile and visual depth to the surface giving a different composition from every angle. Two stamps on foot of cup, my signature “d.r.” chop and triangle stamp to mark my wood-fired body of work. Hand wash recommended. Fired in Kurt Brantner’s “White Rocks Anagama Kiln”. Special thanks to Kurt Brantner Pottery.
