Rectangular bottle. Wheel thrown and altered dark stoneware with Avery kaolin flashing slip and anagama natural ash glaze, side fired on sea-shells leaving shell impressions and flame flashing on one face of bottle. Fired for 72 hours using oak, maple, and hemlock slab wood. The interaction of the Avery kaolin slip and the flames of the wood-kiln have produced beautiful soft matte, almost “southwestern desert”, surfaces on this bottle. Great bottle to use as a vase for blooms of lilac or sprigs of fresh cut lavender. Fired in Kurt Brantner’s “White Rocks Anagama Kiln”. Special thanks to Kurt Brantner Pottery.
